You turned 20 weeks on 3/20! You also rolled over from your tummy to your back for the first time and slept through the night from 7:30pm-6:30am for the first time. You're sitting really well by yourself now, we still have to hold you from time to time but you can pretty much sit for a good 20-30 seconds.
You woke up with a runny nose yesterday and mommy has been really worried. You're not fussy at all though just a really well behaved and sweet little girl. Mommy and daddy loves you so much!!

1st roll over!

You turned 20 weeks old today and you celebrated by turning over from your back to your tummy for the very first time. Mommy is so so proud of you!!
You're just the most precious little girl. Last week grandpa and grandma came visit, and we introduced so many new things to you. We started solid last Friday (3/15) and put you on the high chair. Grandma also bought you a jumparoo. You're doing much better with Michelle, and we took you out for dinner at Alchemy on Saturday.
Mommy's going to introduce you to avocado today, we'll see how that works. :)

So many updates!
My dearest little girl,
Mommy hasn't updated the blog for a while coz I have been busy the past 2 weeks. Elizabeth quit 2 weeks ago so mommy has been interviewing new nannies for you. Coincidentally, started from 2 weeks ago, you developed the anxiety towards strangers, you will not let people (except daddy) hold you especially strangers. You'll close your eyes and clenched your fists and cry so loud. You did that with the new nanny, you cried and cried and your face was all wet with snots and tears. It broke my heart...:( But we're trying out with Stacy and see if you'll eventually warm up to her. If not, I'm sure we'll figure something out.
Other than that, you are just the sweetest little girl. You have been sleeping more than 10 hours for the past couple days. You're napping 2-3 times a day now, and feed about 4-5 times. You're getting stronger and stronger with your legs, daddy loves to practice standing up with you, and you do so well. Your tummy time is a piece of cake now, you can go on for more than 10 minutes at a time. You have better hand eye coordination now, you can grab a toy and put it in your mouth. You love to suck on just about everything. And your laugh, your laugh is the most precious thing. :)
Mommy and daddy are so proud of you, we can't wait for you to be able to sit and start eating solids. I'm starting to imagine having a little person sitting next to us at the dining table, it will be so awesome! Love you Silvara!

3 months old & 1st play date

You turned 3 months old today! It's so amazing how time flies and I think we both came a long way since the 1st day we took you back home from the hospital!
I can now tell when you cry whether you're hungry, tired, or just bored. I just learned to wash your hands with soap over the sink. Leaving the house is getting a bit easier, I can now make appointments on time sometimes...and we do tummy times, read stories, massages, cooking, and you keep mommy company when I have lunch and dinner...even though most of the time I don't get to finish my meal before you start complaining, but I'm loving the time we spent with each other.
You are so alert now, paying attention to everything! You love when mommy takes you out, you'll observe the environment and fall asleep when you get tired. You do so well at tummy time, really strong and hold your head and shoulder up so high. You drool, move your mouth, and put your whole hands in your mouth, you also hold your hands together as if you're trying to figure out what hands are and what you can do with them. You laugh and talk so much now and you especially love when mommy kisses you on your neck. You also love when daddy gives you a bath, that's a special bonding time for you and daddy!

You are making some big progress in the sleep department. Started from 3 nights ago, you have been waking up only once at night! Saturday night you slept for a whooping 9 hours, and then the following 2 days you slept for about 8 hours. Mommy hopes you'll continue this trend, this is really something, I'm so glad you're sleeping better and also mommy's sleeping better as well.
Also, you have been making some conscious "grabbing" with your hand. You will hold on to your blanket now, also you pull out your binky the other day. :)
Grandpa has been visiting for the past couple days. We took you out on Sunday for almost 6 hours and you were absolutely fantastic. You took 3 naps in the car and while we were having breakfast, mommy fed you twice and changed your diaper once. You never really cried and that makes me feel less stressful about taking you around.
You're almost 12 weeks so getting close to that 3 months mark. As always, mommy and daddy loves you and we hope that you'll always be happy and healthy!

Today you turned 11 weeks. To be real honest mommy can't say time flies...guess that's because I'm waiting for you to get to that sweet 3 months point that people kept on telling me about. I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen when you turn 3 months old, but hopefully you'll sleep better, have less pain, and out grow your gassy and spit up issues...really, we just hope that you'll be healthy and sleep a little longer...:)
Last week mommy took you to your first swim class. You seem t enjoy it, so I'm going to continue to take you to the class. When the weather gets warmer, mommy will take you out more. I think you really enjoy it, and actually sleep better at night I think.
You're getting bigger and bigger each day and more and more responsive. You are starting to grab on to things by yourself, like when we wrap you in blanket, you'll grab on to the blanket real tight.
Just continue to grow little girl, mommy and daddy will always be here and take care of you! :)

Last night for the 1st time, you slept for 6.5 hours straight, but after that, you basically woke up every hour and poop through out the whole night. I think mommy has made peace with the fact that you're just a baby, and as much as I'd like to control your schedule and put you on a routine, there's only so much I can do. As long as you're healthy and keep growing, that's really all mommy and daddy can ask for!

You're 2 months and 5 days old today. Mommy niticed some little changes in you that I'd like to make sure I make note of.
1. You're definitely interacting to stimulations now. You were laughing and giggling when daddy played with you today. It's just too cute, both you and daddy!
2. You complained about being swaddled twice today when I put you down for your naps. You fall asleep immediately after I removed your swaddle.
3. You are having way better head control now. Mommy does not need to hold your head anymore when I'm holding you. This is huge. One of the big sign that you'll be ready for solids soon.
4. You showed A TON of interest when you were watching mommy eat. I had a bowl of congee next to you today and you were watching me the whole time, moving your toungue, and drooling the whole time. Another big sign of getting ready for solids.

2 month well check up

Mommy took you to the doctor yesterday for your 2 month well check-up. Doctor said you are absolutely perfect! You're definitely a bigger baby, but very well proportioned. Your height is now 24 inches (87%), and weight is at 13 pounds and 15 ounces so almost 14 pounds (83%). You also have very nice round head which is something mommy really cares about coz I have flat head so I want to make sure you don't! :)
You also got 3 shots today on both legs. The needles were really long and the nurse pushed them all the way in. You were very brave, you had your eyes shut and cried really hard for about 1 minute. But then mommy fed you some milk and you were able to calm down and fall asleep afterwards.
You were having a hard time in the evening according to Elizabeth. But we think it's because you're a littl bit constipated because you haven't pooped since 10am in the morning. Mommy hope it's just temporary and you'll be able to resume pooping normally today, but if not, we'll figure something out to help you feel better.

You didn't cry as much yesterday, except for the usual hungry, needs to be changed, and tired cry. I hope your gas situation is getting better.
You're doing great development wise. Couple days ago you started blowing bubbles and will laugh at yourself when the bubbles bust. You will laugh and giggle when mommy's being silly or when you're pooping. Also you started talking, even though I don' understand what you're saying, but you sure can carry on a conversation...:)
Mommy's more and more in love with you. You'll forever be my baby girl!

Mommy knows I'm so blessed to have such a sweet girl. Forgive me for the occasional melt down...mommy's still getting used to the new life we now have with you. But one thing mommy will promise you is I'll always be here for you, and will love you with all my heart!

Mommy decided to start supplementing breast milk with formula because I'm not producing enough milk for you. Mommy's pumping about 25-28 ounces/day but you're eating about 28-32/day, so you can see how the numbers don't work...;)
We started last night and so far you seem to be okay with it. You pooped last night after every feeding which is something that I was worried about, since formula babies tend to be more constipated. But we just started, so we'll see how it goes.
Also I think because of the weather and it gets dark so early now, so you have been sleeping from 6pm to about 7:30pm and you'll wake up 3 times for feeding and changing. You did not complained too much last night, there was not really any crying so mommy's happy. Hopefully you'll out grow your tummy and gassy issues soon coz it hurts mommy to see you in pain.
Also Elizabeth and I are taking you to the mall to take pictures with Santa today. You probably won't remember, actually you definitely won't remember but it will be a lot of fun for mommy!

Mommy looked it up online and it says babies typically roll from their tummy to their sides when they are about 3 months old, so mommy thinks you're doing great from a development standpoint, now mommy just hope your brain is developing in such a fast pace as well! ;)
Grandma Paula and grandpa Barry were visiting from Colorado the past couple days. They are so sweet and they love you so much. Paula took care of you for 3 nights so mommy can sleep through the night without waking up, but mommy pulled her neck on Sunday night so have been in a lot of pain for the past couple days. Hopefully I'll get better soon!

It has been raining for the past 2 days, so not sure if this has any impact on your eating and sleeping schedule. Yesterday you didn't sleep so well during the day, but you did really well at night. You slept 4 hours, 3.5 hours, and 3.5 hours, so you woke up only twice. Hopefully you can keep it up. We know last time you did this it only lasted 2 nights...:)
Other than that, you're definitely more aware now. You're starting to react to us when we play with you. You're doing really well tracking objects, we found you're especially attracted to black/white objects. You also smile/laugh at mommy's funny faces or when I say peek-a-boo...daddy thinks it's really annoying but who cares about what he thinks...haha!

Mommy took you to the mom's group for the 1st time yesterday to meet other moms and babies. You were sleeping the whole time so we didn't really get to practice & play during the class. Then you decided to wake up when it's about time to leave. You wouldn't eat and just kept on crying so I can't really put you back in the car seat. I was there for another 30 minutes alone in the room trying to calm you down, so you weren't a very good girl at the hospital, but other than that, you were great!

You turned 5 weeks old yesterday! It was also your nanny Elizabeth's first day with you. Mommy & daddy both really like Elizabeth so we hope you like her, too!
She helped mommy moved most of your stuff into your room so yesterday was the first dat that you napped and slept in your own room. You were pretty good with it. Last night you only woke up 3 times, it was also the 1st time you slept more than 3 hours at a stretch.
You weren't doing that great today though. Mommy took you to the mom's group for the first time today and you kept on crying and won't get into your car seat. After we got home, you didn't nap very well either so I'm not sure how tonight's going to turn out. Hopefully you can continue your good behavior! Mommy has faith in you! You're a big girl now...well...sorta...people kept in saying that changes will happen at the 6th week and then 8th week, guess we'll see if you're going to continue to improve.

We have been doing the activity gym for the past couple days, it's almost a routine in the morning now starting from 7-7:30pm for about 30 minutes. I'm not sure if it's doing anything but you seem to enjoy it and you're not crying when you're on the mat. So we'll keep on doing it. Hopefully you'll start to play with the toys soon! =)

You're almost 1 month old now. You're sleeping less now and have become more fussy. When you cried before, mommy knows you're either hungry or needs to be changed. But we've noticed that you're getting more active and when you cry, it's not just as simple as feeding and changing anymore, sometimes you want to play, want to be entertained, want to be held...so it's getting more complicated but I guess as you grow, you're world will start to broaden, it's not just food, sleep, pee, & poop anymore...:)
Mommy took out the activity gym yesterday, and daddy made a playlist for you. You love music and will sometimes dance to the tunes (okay maybe you're not dancing but we'd like to think you are...;). You will lie on the activity gym and listen to music for 20 minutes. You also love to take walks, daddy and mommy took you out for a walk for the first time yesterday, even though you slept the whole time, but I think the movement calms you down, and you actually continue to sleep after we get back home in your car seat. Last night you wouldn't sleep and was fuzzy around for 3.5 hours, in the end I put you in the car seat and rock you back and forth in the hall way, you fall asleep in your car seat. I think that's one more trick up on mommy's sleeves now...:)
Baby girl, you're definitely growing up and changing on a daily basis. Mommy's trying my best to take this in and cherish all the moments we have together. Even though it can get pretty daunting and frustrating, but I know this will past and we'll get to know each other better.
Mommy's continuing to bottle feed you breast milk. You sitll won't nurse properly, so mommy will just continue to pump and feed you through the bottle. =)
Can't wait till you're bigger and can actually interact with us. Meanwhile mommy will continue to "suffer" through this perioud of time...;)

12 days old - 2nd well check up

You had your 2nd well check-up today. Your doing very well! You're now at 8 pounds and 2.5 ounces, compared with 7 pounds and 2 ounces 10 days ago when we left the hospital. I was really worry since I wasn't able to nurse you 100% since you have a minor tongue tie issue that effects your sucking, so I have to pump and bottle feed you breast milk. But you're growing so the doctor said it's fine to keep doing what I'm doing and we'll re-evaluate your tongue when you get a bit older.
Other than the feeding issue, you're really a great kid. You only cry when you're hungry or need to be changed. Even though you tend to poop right after we put on a new diaper for you, and so far you had couple episodes of pooping and peeing in the middle of a diaper change. I'm just hoping now you can sleep longer at night so that I'm not so sleep deprived. But I guess things will get better when you get older. :)

You were born on 10/31 11:12pm at Scottsdale Shea hospital. You were 7lbs 8 ounces, 3402g, and 20 inches long. Only 5% of the babies were actually born on their due dates, you were right on time.
Mommy had an "easy" delivery, at least that's what people told me. :)
I started feeling the pain about 4am on the 31st. It was very irregular and has been on and off about every hour or so. We had a doctor's appointment that day at 8am. The doctor said I was 4cm dilated. Very likely you'll be here that day or the next day. We should head to the hospital when my contraction is 5 minutes apart.
Your grandparents from daddy's side flew in that afternoon from Sacremento. We had a dinner reservation at Alchemy that night at 5:15pm. By dinner time, mommy's contraction was getting closer, but still about 25 minutes apart. We finished dinner about 8:30pm, then we headed home. By about 9:40pm, the pain was getting pretty strong, but the contraction was still pretty far apart at 9 minutes. Mommy doesn't think I can deal with the pain anymore, so we headed to the hospital. By the time we got to the hospital, I can't really walk when I got out of the car. Daddy got a wheel chair, we headed upstairs, and I was admitted and headed to the triage. It was about 10:20pm.
I asked the nurse when I'll be able to get the epidural. She said she needs to check how many cm dilated mommy was and decide whether I'm staying or they might send me home. She checked and I was at 6 cm dilated and she said mommy's not going anywhere. I asked again when I can get my epidural, the nurse said the anesthesiologist just got called into an emergency C section, so I'll have to wait. She gave me some pain reliever, but honestly I didn't feel any relief at all.
After about 10 minutes, they got another bed and was about to move me into the delivery room. Mommy felt some warm water down my thigh, I thought I peed and I told your daddy. He didn't say anything but he knew my water just broke, and I'm about to give birth. By the time they wheeled me into the delivery room. I was in so much pain, and I know I wasn't going to get my epidural. I told the nurse I can't hold it anymore, I'm ready to push. Then Dr. Deka showed up, I pushed 9 times, and you were here!
Daddy told me afterwards the nurses were really nervous and scrambling to get ready for the delivery. Dr. Deka happened to be at the parking lot of the hospital for another delivery, she came to to me first before she headed to the other patient. You were born at 11:12pm.
When the doctor put you on me, it was so unreal. It was hard for me to comprehend the fact that you were just in my belly a minute ago. I looked at you, cannot believe that you came out of me. It truly was the most amazing feeling and I was so happy that you were so healthy! Words can't really describe the joy and the feelings.
That's what happened on the 31st, the day of your arrival. I know

Mommy's milk finally came in today. I feel so relieved. I was crying yesterday coz I was so worried that I won't have milk to feed you. I'm feeling so much better now. Once mommy's cracked nipples healed, I think breast feeding will be so much easier. Even though it hurts now, I'm so happy I'm able to still breast feed, i really enjoy the time when you're in my arms, so close to me, I love you so very much!
Today's also your first well check-up. Doctor said you're doing very well. You regained some weight you lost the first 2 days. You're now 7 lbs 5 oz and 20 3/4 inches long.

Mommy had my 33 werks check up today. Doctor said you're doing very very well, you're about average size, 58% percentile which is great. Also they score your movement...etc and you got 8 out of 8 which is your first perfect score! Mommy's so proud of you!
You have your head down and doctor said it's likely to stay that way. We're almost there baby girl, mommy can't wait to meet you. It's such a miracle!

Last week when mommy went to see the doctor, she measured my belly and ordered a 3rd ultrasound because you seem to be smaller than what you should be based on the measurement. So mommy had a 3rd ultrasound today, you're actually very well grown. Measured 5lbs and 1oz, 8 days ahead of schedule! You have hair on your head, and the nurse confirmed you're a girl one more time. She gave me some pictures which are supposed to show your girl parts but mommy don't really know how to tell, so I guess I'll just have to take the nurse words for it! :)
The fluids around you are measured well as well, everything looks great. You're in a heads down position so hopefully you stay that way! You have been kicking quite a bit, I have a feeling that you'r going to be out ahead of schedule which is great coz I can't wait to meet you!

Mommy's starting to feel the weight of my belly! You have been kicking quite a bit but not too bad. It's hard to imagine you're about 1.5 - 2 lbs now. Mommy can't wait to meet you, hope it's not too crowded in there and you're having a good time! Mommy and daddy will see you in about 15 weeks!! :)

Almost 21 Weeks & Crib!!

Mommy's belly's getting bigger and bigger and mommy can really feel the belly expanding especially after dinner every night! Hope you're enjoying your time in mommy's belly and maybe kick a little bit so mommy knows you're doing okay in there! :)
Also, daddy finished building you the crib. I can already imagine you laying in there next to our bed!

Mommy and daddy went to the hospital on 6/1 for my second check up to make sure you're healthy. We were really excited coz very likely we'll be able to find out whether you're going to be a litle boy or girl. When the doctor said it looks like we're having a little girl, mommy cried...we're so happy!! You were kicking when we were doing the ultrasound, looks like you're doing well in there. We can see your hand in the video, looks like you're saying hi to us. Continue to grow and mommy and daddy will see you soon! :)
